Is there a list of components?
The kit consists of several components shown at the products tab and in the instruction sheets accompanying the system.

What type of aircraft can the system be used with?
It is being installed and used primarily on powered parachutes and trikes, however it can be installed on most other E-LSA, ultra lights and various home built aircraft.

Is there a special fluid that must be used?
No, there are several compounds that can and are used to produce smoke. We recommend genuine aircraft smoke oil, which is manufactured specifically for aircraft use. Several other things that are used are concrete form release oil (less expensive) or a transmission fluid/diesel fuel mix and others.

Where do I get the smoke fluid?
Smoke oil is available from various suppliers of aircraft related material throughout the U.S. and a recommended supplier is provided in the installation instructions accompanying the kit. Concrete form release oil can be found locally from many building supply companies.

How long will the smoke fluid last while flying?
Smoke oil burn rates vary considerably depending on how often the system is operated, engine size and other factors. However, with normal flights of 30 minutes or so with intermittent smoke use, the oil will last for several flights. Our new injector nozzle decreases the amount of oil used and increases the time between refills while maintaining a dense cloud of smoke.

How long does it take to install the kit?
Approximately 3 hours. This is of course dependent upon the mechanical expertise of the installer and availability of tools.

What kinds of tools are required to install the kit?
Common hand tools such as open or box end wrenches, pliers, drill, drill bits, 1/8" pipe tap and zip ties are the basic needs.

Why is a mounting plate not included in the kit?
Because of the wide variance between models of aircraft on which the kit may be installed, it is not possible to produce a mounting plate/bracket that will fit all applications. An example of this: Recently, we installed the kit on five different aircraft and each required entirely different methods of mounting. In one instance, two powered parachutes of the same model necessitated different methods of installation. Many units will not need a mounting plate and the kit can be mounted on the air frame. Fabrication of a mounting plate and installation of the kit is not difficult and materials needed to install it are readily available.

How much does the kit weigh?
Approximately: 2 pounds empty; 6 pounds full.

How much space does the kit require?
When mounted on the aircraft, the kit takes up approximately .5 cu/ft. The oil reservoir is the largest and most visible item.

Is support available?
Absolutely. Just call or e-mail us with your questions. Leigh Spargur, Admin/Marketing 870-423-4523 Bill Schenck, Technical 479-253-7613 e-mail us at, info@skysmoke.com

How fast can I get it?
Most orders are shipped within 3 working days.

Will you install the kit for me?
Yes, with some restrictions. This is an extra cost option and within a 50 mile radius of the Berryville/Eureka Springs, Arkansas area. It is also possible to bring the aircraft to our facilities for installation.

Are there photographs available?
Each item is photographed and included with the kit. In the photo section, is a Powrachute PC2000 and a Six Chuter SR5-XP showing kits installed. The only part of the system that stands out is the reservoir. The photo shown on our web site is an actual photograph of a Powrachute PC2000 with our "Sky Smoke" generator in use. The photos show Sky Smoke in the air installed on a variety of other aircraft.

Can you make colored smoke?
Not so far. Most colored smoke trails produced by aircraft are done with smoke grenades and as we understand, sometimes with chemicals. We are continuing to study production of colored smoke and if it can be done economically and safely, we will certainly add it to our product line.

How does your system operate?
Smoke oil is pumped from a reservoir, heated, then injected into the exhaust manifold where it is vaporized and exits through the muffler; similar to the systems used in General Aviation aircraft.

Will the smoke kit operate in inverted flight or aerobatic maneuvers?
No. Sky Smoke was developed primarily for ultra lights and E-LSA.

Are you marketing the Sky Smoke kit on other websites.
In order to keep the cost as low as possible, the Sky Smoke generator kit is being offered exclusively through www.SkySmoke.com. Please review the notice on our home page.
